D-Handle Non-Impact Searcher Bar

The D-Handle Searcher Bar

Product Information and Features

Easy to Use

The D-handle non-impact searcher bar is designed for use in small spaces such as ditches where the ground is reasonably soft. Therefore, it is recommended the probe is pushed into the ground by hand only.

Handle

The D-handle Searcher Bar handle is plastic and provides a convenient grip during use.

Spike

The searcher bar spike is made from nickel, chrome, molybdenum steel to give strength and durability. The point is hardened to 55-60 HRC. The spike is of a fixed length, although each D-handle searcher bar can be produced in various lengths to provide a custom ground depth.

Shaft

The polypropelene shaft is 1.5" (35mm) in diameter.

Replacement Parts

Replacement parts are not available for the D-handle searcher bar; please contact us if you require a replacement bar or different length spike.

Directions for Use

  • The non-impact searcher bars are designed for use in small spaces such as ditches where the ground is reasonably soft therefore it is recommended the probe is pushed into the ground by hand only.
  • IMPORTANT: Should more force be necessary the end of the handle can be hit gently using a large headed plastic hammer only. Use of a small hammer without plastic cover could result in the thermoplastic handle being chipped and cracked.
  • NOTE: This tool is not designed for use in tarmac or concrete.
  • Non-impact searcher bars are not designed to be used as crowbars. If used in this way the spike will bend and could become loose from the handle.
  • It is recommended that personnel engaged in barholing work shall be equipped with, and use, protective clothing including goggles, gloves and steel toe-capped footwear.
  • ENSURE HANDS AND FEET ARE KEPT WELL AWAY FROM THE SPIKE TIP. ALWAYS CARRY THE TOOL WITH THE SPIKE POINTING AWAY FROM THE BODY.
  • REPLACE RUBBER CAP ON SPIKE AFTER USE FOR SAFETY.

Storage

  • Store in dry conditions and away from sunlight and excess heat.
  • Do not store under heavy objects or on top of sharp objects.

General Maintenance

  • The handles are solid polypropylene – examine tools which are in regular use for any cracks which may occur through misuse of the tool. SHOULD ANY CRACKS BE VISIBLE, DO NOT USE THIS TOOL AGAIN AS THE ELECTRICAL INSULATION MAY NOT BE INTACT. It is recommended that any probes with cracked handles be marked as such and put directly into the scrap bin.
  • Keep handles free from grease.
  • Ensure the spike is firmly attached to the plastic handle.
